Under Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
Health care is a human right. We're making it real in Mbita.
MED25 International Kenya is a community-led health and resilience organization working with subsistence farming and fishing communities on Lake Victoria. We run a hospital in Mbita, and we work well beyond it.

Our Approach
One Community at a Time
Quality Care
Clinically sound, evidence-based treatment delivered with dignity and respect.
Culturally Appropriate
Care shaped around the traditions and lived realities of Lake Victoria communities.
Affordable
Removing cost as a barrier so rural families can access the care they need.

Why Mbita
Rural distance is the difference between treatable and fatal.
Across the Lake Victoria region, the nearest hospital can be hours away by road or water. For a mother in obstructed labour or a child with severe malaria, that distance decides the outcome.
MED25 exists to close it. We run a full hospital in Mbita so that care is local, affordable, and staffed around the clock by people from the communities it serves. And because distance is only one barrier among many, we work upstream too, on nutrition, water, prevention, and the community systems that keep people well before they need a ward.
Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care.
Our Work
A hospital, and more than a hospital
MED25 runs a hospital in Mbita. Around it sits a growing set of social enterprises and community programmes that address health where it actually begins, in households, on the water, and in village life.
The Hospital
Outpatient and inpatient care, maternity, diagnostics, pharmacy, and ambulance response, open around the clock in Mbita.
Mortuary & Funeral Home
Dignified end-of-life care, and a revenue stream that sustains the hospital.
Soccer Tournament
Sport as a route into health, for young people across the sub-county.
