MED25 runs a hospital in Mbita. Around it sits a growing set of social enterprises and community programmes that address health where it actually begins, in households, on the water, and in village life.
Mortuary & Funeral Home
ActiveDignified end-of-life care, and a revenue stream that sustains the hospital.
A modern morgue and funeral home serving Mbita and the surrounding communities. It meets a real need with dignity and respect, and the income it generates helps fund clinical care for patients who could not otherwise afford it.
Soccer Tournament
ActiveSport as a route into health, for young people across the sub-county.
A community football tournament that brings young people together and creates a natural setting for health education, screening, and outreach. Sport reaches young men in particular, who are among the hardest groups to engage through a clinic alone.

Community Health Volunteers across more than ten community health units carry care into households, and shape what we do next.
Preventive
We work upstream, on nutrition, water, sanitation, and early detection, so that fewer people arrive needing acute treatment.
Integrated
Clinical services, outreach, and social enterprise operate as one system rather than as separate projects.
Inclusive
Women, young people, people with disabilities, and remote island and fishing communities are planned for, not reached by accident.
Evidence-driven
We measure what we do and adjust, building the record that lets us improve and lets partners see results.
Resilience-focused
Floods, outbreaks, and climate shocks are recurring realities on Lake Victoria. Preparedness is part of health, not separate from it.

MED25 serves subsistence farming and fishing communities across Mbita Sub-County in Homa Bay County, including island and beach communities that sit hours from the nearest alternative facility.
These are communities where distance, cost, and season decide whether someone gets care. Working here is a deliberate choice, and it shapes everything about how we deliver.
